Secret cult and it's origin in Nigerian institutions.

Secret cult societies was believed to have originated from egypt. Secret societies have been existing in Nigeria even before the coming of the colonial masters. They were formed by a group of individuals with the sole aim of seeking protection from their ancestors by conducting rituals. In the late 40's, the higher institutions in Nigeria were not associated with secret societies. The first secret cult was formed in 1952 by (7) Seven professors led by prof WOLE SOYINKA and it is called the SEADOGS confraternity a.k.a PYRATE in the university of IBADAN. The main objective of founding the cult was to fight colonialism, ensure the dignity of man, and to rid the Nigerian society of elitism and tribalism. They engaged in many humanitarian activities like donation of blood to hospitals, presentation of gift to orphanages. They remained members even after school. Later in 1972 a group known as SEALORDS a.k.a BUCCANNEER was formed with the logo 'A DOG HAS A MASTER AND THE MASTER IS THE LORD' other slogan are ''BLUD for BLUD'' ''ODAS is ODAS'' ''NO PRICE NO PAY''. Ten years later during their ten years anniversary, the name became ''BUCCANNEER ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA'' (BAN). Then later came the VIKINGS CONFRATERNITY. The pyrate, the buccanneer and the vikings uses red, yellow and black colours respectively. Other students who were denied iniciation rights started garthering up themselves and forming their own cult groups forgeting the aims and objectives of the founding fathers.
Now we have over one hundred secret cults in our Nigerian institutions which includes:- black axe, eiye, mafia, maphite, klansman, black beret, black cat, black cross, jurist, mba mba, stainless scorpion, crusaders, arch tiger, dominion, heart lost, kkk, pink ladies, justice fighters e.t.c
